Nappy of the week : Marsha Ambrosius

Marsha Ambrosius (born August 8, 1977) is an English singer-songwriter. A former member of Floetry, she released her first solo album Late Nights & Early Mornings on 1 March 2011.

She collaborated with great artists such as Styles P, The Game, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Jamie Foxx, Wale and many others…

Marsha Ambrosius is now back with a new video clip for her new single Fuck N Get It Over With, extract of her latest album entitled Friends & Lovers.

Marsha relationship with her hair :
In 2010, she published a post I Am Not My Hair and told about her experience about that untouched, pure, loved hair!.

As many of us, she had good and bad experiences with her hair but she learned about it : I don’t regret one single thing I did or didn’t do to my hair, except maybe that bleach! No good can come from bleaching!!!.

In reading these lines, I felt a kind of relief I am not alone with my hair! Like me, she had to find the right way to wear her hair just in trying again and again. She said I have done my hair every which way possible, relaxed, natural, every color possible, colors you’re not supposed to have, I DID IT ALL!!!.

But it takes time. When you want to remain natural, you need to be patient. As though you need to achieve a kind of inner process.
Marsha first relaxed when she was 11. Chopped it all off to go natural when she was 22.

Young Marsha

“With me and my hair, I never really thought I had this emotional attachment, but looking back to my pictures as a kid, I haven’t changed”. “It’s very weird. I still have the side part all to the right side.” she reported in an interview for Ebony Magazine.

Her secret ?
To maintain her legendary curly FRO, she uses “lots and lots and lots of leave-in conditioner, shea butter and tea tree oil.” Clearly, Marsha knows the golden rule: moisture is a curl’s best friend!
